Chris Brunkhorst ’26, College of Engineering, Ph.D. Candidate in Biomedical Engineering

U.S. Air Force, Staff Sergeant, Security Forces and Geospatial Analyst

“Your college community matters as much, if not more, than your academic pursuits. I’m grateful for my support system at Cornell; it’s kept me in grad school. You deserve comfort, appreciation, respect, work-life balance, and fulfillment of your needs. Don’t settle. Demand these from your institution.”

Ryan Shelley, ’25, Arts & Sciences and SC Johnson School of Business, ’26

“From walking into the Marine recruiter’s office as a confused, out-of-shape 17-year-old, to graduating from Officer Candidates School, I’ve learned plenty. The most important lesson however, was that my greatest achievements: earning the title of Marine, graduating with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in 8 semesters, and more, were only possible because of my teammates and instructors. The military community, held tightly together through shared experience, commitment, and discipline, propels those brave enough to join to exceptional success.”

Kylie Williamson ’26, College of Arts and Sciences

U.S. Naval ROTC, Midshipman First Class

“Over the past four years, I have been consistently impressed by the level of dedication, knowledge, and support of every member of Cornell’s military community, and I am honored to carry their legacy with me into my service.”

Williamson recently won the Navy Federal ROTC All-American Student of the Year award and is studying Physics. She will be commissioning as a submarine officer upon graduation.
